Another One! Teacher Charged with Sexually Assaulting Student.

It seems that every week we're getting the details for a new inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student. A few weeks ago a student ran away with his teacher, a teacher who was accused of being inappropriate with her student was killed last week and now. . . This 22-year-old woman has been charged with having sexual contact with her 17-year-old student.

According to reports:

"Erin Byrd, 22, started teaching at the Eagle Rock School and Professional Development Center last Autumn.

She is charged with sexual assault on a child in a position of trust after allegedly having sexual relations with a boy, 17, at the remote school.

Eagle Rock is a tiny learning institution with just 72 enrolled students set in the remote Rocky Mountains in Colorado.

According to its website, the school: 'Serves adolescents who are not thriving in their current situations, for whom few positive options exist, and who are interested in taking control of their lives and learning.'

The school said learned of the 'appearance of inappropriate conduct with a student' in March and fired Ms Byrd.

At that time, the school also notified law enforcement.

Eagle Rock also said it's in the process of an internal review to try and prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

Byrd was released from custody Sunday on a $10,000 bond.

The Eagle Rock School headteacher Jeff Liddle wrote in a statement: 'As soon as allegations about the appearance of this conduct were reported, school officials removed the student teacher from the campus and contacted local law enforcement, with whom the school is fully cooperating.

'Furthermore, in order to evaluate the results of this internal review, a third-party firm with expertise in private school education will conduct a thorough and independent inquiry into Eagle Rock's policies and standards.'
