Atlanta Man Arrested For Live Streamed Rape!
A man who allegedly raped a woman last month has finally been arrested. The assault was captured on Facebook live by the victim who was live streaming her birthday celebration. After several puzzling and conflicting accounts, the Atlanta Special Victims Unit issued a warrant for the man's arrest. 34-year-old Dominique Williams turned himself in to authorities on a charge of aggravated sodomy.
According to Georgia Law, if you're convicted of aggravated felony you could face anywhere from 25 years to life in prison.
Via AJC:
"L. Chris Stewart and Joshua Palmer, attorneys for the woman, said in a joint statement that Williams’ arrest “serves as vindication for her and all other women who have been victims of sexual assault.” On Jan. 20, police said the department received calls from people who had seen the alleged assault on Facebook, AJC.com previously reported.
The next day, police announced they had identified and contacted the man seen in the video, but they didn’t release his name because the investigation was ongoing."
The woman at the center of the case doesn't reside in Georgia but has cooperated with the investigation to the fullest of her ability.
The video of the assault has been removed from Facebook, as well as YouTube, because of it's nature. The victim's Facebook page has been made private but that doesn't stop everyone from talking about it in the comments of her previous public posts.
We're still keeping this woman, and her family, in our prayers.
