Oklahoma Delivery Driver Racially Profiled and Prevented from Leaving by HOA!
Imagine you're a delivery driver, driving along listening to your gospel music and trying to get to your next stop. It's a great day. Now imagine that you are blocked into a gated community and prevented from leaving by the president of the Homeowners Association just because he thinks you're suspicious!
This is exactly what happened to Travis Miller Sr.
Miller had completed his last delivery for the day in a gated community and was preparing to leave. He made a U-Turn in a cul-de-sac and was heading out when his only exit was blocked. The man blocking the exit met Miller and demanded to know who he was, where he'd been and what the nature of his business was in the neighborhood.
Miller, who knows his rights, didn't answer any of the man's questions. Instead, he called into his office to report the incident. He also decided to go live on Facebook to document the incident just in case things went sour.
Take a look.
We are grateful that this incident didn't end in tragedy. Miller had every right to be doing his job and to not be accosted by people who haven't mastered the art of minding their own business.
This is how people get killed. These men had NO RIGHT to stop him and demand that he tell them anything ESPECIALLY when the community is gated and protected and there was no way for Miller to get in without someone on the inside giving him access.
This reeks of "good ole boy" and "let me see your traveling papers"!
Miller spoke to KFOR Oklahoma News and said “I just know that emotionally, it was hard to maintain restraint, especially when I’m dealing with death in the family, two family members within two days of each other,” Miller said. “I just did the best I could to not make a bad situation worse.”
One of these days, someone is going to stop the wrong person and learn a lesson the hard way about minding their own business!
