Jay-Z Takes Out Full Page Ad Across the Country in Support of George Floyd!
Today, thousands of artists and creatives took a pause from their normal routines in support of George Floyd and the countless others who've lost their lives due to racism. Many of them posted completely black images to their social media platforms using the hashtag #TheShowMustBePaused. They refrained from entertaining in any way in favor of sharing information to further the cause spearheaded by the tag #AmplifyMelanatedVoices.
Many in the music industry posted personal messages to their social media pages encouraging their colleagues to follow suit but also, asking the public to think of other ways to support them.
This movement wasn't just about injustice. It was also about educating voters and reminding them that real change has to happen at the polls.
Jay-Z and Team RocNation took the movement a little farther. He took out a full page ad. Joined by noteworthy legal eagles S. Lee Merritt and Benjamin L. Crump, Mr. Carter reminded the country that "a man dies when he refuses to stand up for that which is right." Take a look at the ad below.
If you look closely the letter is also signed by the parents of Botham Jean, DJ Henry and Antwon Rose II, young black men all tragically killed by police.
The New York Times, The Denver Post, The Chicago Tribune, The Los Angeles Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Austin American Statement, The Orlando Sentinel and The Atlanta Journal Constitution, among several other newspapers.
According to a representative for Jay-Z, there will be more ads published in newspapers on Wednesday.
We're thankful for artists and activists using their voices, platforms and dollars to support this movement. It's a step in the right direction toward a better tomorrow and toward change.
