More Details Have Surfaced in Oklahoma Murder of Woman by Her Ex-Boyfriend. She was Pregnant!
More details have emerged in the murder case of an Oklahoma woman who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend.
We reported yesterday that 37-year-old Brandon Milburn allegedly killed the mother of his child then abducted the baby. After fleeing the scene Milburn then shot another man who was sitting in his pickup truck a few blocks away while trying to carjack him.
Milburn left the 14-month-old girl with his aunt then led police on a chase. Milburn was eventually cornered and died when he got into a shootout with the Oklahoma City police. Milburn's aunt surrendered the baby to the police voluntarily after she heard about the Amber Alert for the child.
Initially the identity of 14-month-old Zyla Milburn's mother was held but, she has since been identified as 21-year-old Shatica Hixson.
Hixson's family say that she was three months pregnant with Milburn's second child at the time of her death.
The victim’s mother, Marcia Maldonado, said that Hixson and Milburn had been dating for a number of years. Maldonado says that she and Hixson had been on the phone just moments before her daughter was murdered. “We talked right before it happened to her, and everything was fine,” Maldonado said.
When asked if she'd noticed any animosity between Hixson and Milburn leading up to her murder she said there was “Nothing. Nothing,” Maldonado said. “It’s terrible. I don’t understand it. There’s so much to deal with right now and, I mean, we’re trying to fight to get the baby, you know, through DHS now.”
Hixson's family has started a GoFundMe page to help with her funeral expenses.
An officer was also shot during the incident that claimed Milburn's life. That officer is said to be recovering as his injuries were not life threatening.
We're praying for Hixson's family and the family of the other motorist who was senselessly killed.
