Body of Detroit Woman Found in the Middle of the Street. Clues Lead to Arrest of Man Who Shot Her.
The body of a 34-year-old Detroit woman was found laying in the middle of a street during the early morning hours last Thursday. An hour past midnight, you wouldn't expect there to be many witnesses however, enough people saw enough of the incident to lead to an arrest!
According to ClickOnDetroit, Detroit police officers were called at 1:08 a.m. Thursday, July 20, to the intersection of Marseilles and Minerva streets on the city’s west side.
When they arrived, officers found a woman, lying facedown, in the street with a gunshot wound to her head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses say a man, identified as, Eugene Demarcus McKeithan, 31, of Detroit, allegedly shot the woman while he drove near the intersection. They then reported that McKeithan pulled the woman's body from his car, leaving her in the street, and then fleeing the scene.
After a bit of an investigation, McKeithan was arrested later in the day, authorities said.
McKeithan has been charged with first-degree murder, felony in possession of a firearm, and two felony firearm violations.
McKeithan was arraigned Sunday in 36th District Court and remanded to jail.
A probable cause conference is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. July 31, and a preliminary examination is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. Aug. 7.
