Florida Principal Caught Sexting Undercover Cop, Who Posed as a Child, in Real Life #TCAP!
We have no idea why folks still fall for this trap but, this one is pretty textbook!
If you've ever watched a single episode of the old show "To Catch a Predator" where undercover cops would arrange to meet men, who hoped they were meeting underage kids, only for the show's host Chris Hansen to saunter in from the next room, then you know what's up here.
Between January 19th and January 27th, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office had several undercover detectives posted in chatrooms on the internet chatting with adults there who intended on exploiting children. That's when they happened upon a school principal who wasn't trying to tutor!
According to reports, Derrick McLaughlin, a 41-year-old principal at Dawson Elementary School in Riverview, Florida, initiated a text conversation on a social media app with the undercover detectives. Police said that McLaughlin attempted to entice the person he thought was a 15-year-old boy to engage in sex acts.
McLaughlin was arrested Jan. 27 and faces several charges related to the incident.
“It’s sickening that a trusted member of our community, a school principal, would take advantage of a child for his own self-gratification,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “Thankfully, it was not a child, but one of our detectives, who was on the receiving end of his obscene messages. No child should be subjected to the disturbing behavior put on display by McLaughlin.”
The authorities don't believe that there are any actual victims out there but, they do encourage anyone who has information that might pertain to this case to contact them.
This investigation is ongoing.
