Man INTENTIONALLY Hits Pregnant Wife with His Car!

A Tuscaloosa man has been arrested after authorities say he intentionally hit his pregnant wife with his car!

The Violent Crimes Unit was called at about 8:15 a.m. on Monday February 15 after Tuscaloosa Police were summoned to 15th Street near the Interstate 359 overpass. Multiple witnesses at the scene say the saw the man, identified as 22-year-old Canaan Johnson, strike a visibly pregnant woman with is car.

Witnesses said that the pregnant woman got out of the car Johnson was driving on the expressway. They then say that Johnson made a u-turn on the expressway, aimed his car at the woman and hit her.

The 23-year-old woman, only identified as Johnson's wife, was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment to non-life threatening injuries. There is no word on her condition or that of her unborn child.

Johnson was arrested at the scene and is facing two counts of attempted murder and one count of first-degree kidnapping.

He remains in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on $180,000 bail.
