Minimal Charges for North Carolina Mother Whose Infant was Found Dead in a Suitcase in Her Closet!
A Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina woman was arrested in connection to a dead infant found inside of her home.
According to ABC11, police officers responded about 11:30 a.m. to the 100 block of Franklin Street for a wellness check on a child.
Officers searched the home and found the dead 3-month-old infant wrapped in a blanket inside a suitcase in a closet.
The child's mother, Synkel Davis, 34, was arrested and charged with felonious concealment of death of a child. More charges were anticipated once the child's cause of death was determined.
Now, we've learned that additional charges will not be filed.
An autopsy filed by the coroner has determined that there were no injuries or trauma found to the infant. The official cause of death has still yet to be revealed but we do know that the baby appears to have died through no immediate fault of the mother.
No word on why Davis concealed the death of her child, her current mental state or if there were other children in the home has been released.
Davis remains in the Halifax County Jail on a $15,000 bond and is due in court on Thursday.
