Missing Misssissippi Teen Found Dead, After Hours Long Search, in Remote Area of National Park.
A missing 18-year-old young man has been found dead after last being seen four days ago.
News reports say that Fredarrious Wilson was last seen in West Memphis, Arkansas on March 5 according to the police.
Authorities were able to track his cellphone activity to an approximate area in the Holly Springs National Forest in Yalobusha County.
The Yalobusha County Sheriffs Department then sent out a search party for Wilson but, did not find him.
“We searched the area for over six hours Tuesday night, but were unsuccessful,” Gooch reported. “The area is very remote.”
On Wednesday morning, March 8, at approximately 11:20 a U.S. Forest Service employee working in the area spotted Wilson’s body 30 yards off of County Road 243. The sheriff’s department, assisted by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Forestry Service, District Attorney’s office and the Water Valley Police Department responded to process the scene.
The sheriff reported his department was in communication with Wilson’s family during the search Tuesday night and again Wednesday after he was found dead.
“Sadly, it wasn’t the outcome we wanted. Our focus is on this investigation, making an arrest and providing answers and closure for his family,” Sheriff Gooch said. “Our prayers go out to them.”
There is no word yet on Wilson's cause of death. This investigation is ongoing and we will report as more details become available.
