North Carolina Mother Arrested and Charged After Stabbing Her One-Year-Old Baby IN FRONT of Police!
Police in Greenville, N.C. have arrested a mother after they say she was caught stabbing her child.
Police officers responding to a call of a disagreement between
family members at a house on Taylor Street just before 1:30 p.m. Monday. They said that when they arrived 21-year-old Cierra Dyer (pictured left) was arguing with another family member over the custody of her one-year-old daughter.
When police arrived, they say an officer walked into the kitchen and saw her stabbing the child in the back.
When confronted by the officer, Dyer threw the knife on the floor and was immediately taken into custody, according to police.
The baby girl was transported to an area hospital to receive treatment for her injuries and, thankfully, she is expected to survive.
Dyer has been charged with attempted murder and felony child abuse. She remains behind bars on a $1.5 million bond at the Pitt County jail.
We know that parenting is a very hard job, especially when you're young or doing the job on your own but, we really wish this hadn't happened.
There is no word on whether Dyer is known to suffer from any mental health issues or what could have possibly triggered this attack. Whatever the case may be, we're praying for this child, this family and we hope that Dyer gets the help that she obviously needs.
