Texas Toddler Found in Towed Car While His Mom Gets Drunk at the Bar!
A Texas mother is behind bars today after authorities say she left her toddler inside of her car while she went out drinking. To make matters worse, the car was parked illegally and was towed with the child inside.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Harris County District Court, officers with the Houston Police Department at about 12:25 a.m. on Monday responded to a call regarding an illegally parked car in the 2400 block of Wheeler Street. A local tow truck driver had towed the illegally parked car, owned by Brandy Rachelle Brown, and later discovered a 3-year-old child sleeping in the backseat.
The tow truck driver stated that he hitched the vehicle, then towed it about a block away before getting out to properly secure it. When he attempted to secure the vehicle, he noticed the sleeping child in the backseat and immediately called 911. The child was taken from the vehicle by Emergency Medical Services.
Court documents state that Brown left the toddler “in [the] car asleep for at least 28 minutes while she went to a club.”
The criminal complaint further states that she left her child in “imminent danger” of physical and mental impairment by leaving him “unattended in an illegally parked car at night while going drinking at a nightclub during which the car was towed away with the child inside.”
Records show that Brown has previously been charged with multiple crimes, including driving while intoxicated and interfering with the duties of a public servant. She was convicted on the DUI charge and did not have a valid license at the time of her arrest.
Brown, 29, was taken into custody and charged with one count of child endangering. She was later booked into the Harris County Jail and released after posting bond of $7,500, records show.
