Tiffany Haddish Set to Produce and Portray Florence Griffith-Joyner in New Biopic!
It's no secret that we LOVE Tiffany Haddish here at TCP! From the very first moment that we all saw her in "Girls Trip", to us back-tracking her rise to fame and reading her memoir. We love her and we've always been rooting for her to win!
We've watched her star in an array of films that tested her acting skills but this new venture, looks like something she was born for. According to our friends at Shadow and Act, Tiffany Haddish has been set to star in an upcoming biopic on the iconic athlete Florence Griffith Joyner aka "Flo-Jo." She will also produce the film, which is from game1.
The film will tell the story of Joyner’s life and untimely death, highlighting her winning, but also “…her enduring impact on the entire world of sports and in the communities that needed her help and inspiration the most”. Therese Andrews, EVP of Production at Game1, is spearheading the entire project.
Haddish has said that "Flo-Jo" was one of her heroes when she was growing up. “I am looking forward to telling Flo-Jo’s story the way it should be told,” said Haddish. “My goal with this film is making sure that younger generations know my ‘she-ro’ Flo-Jo, the fastest woman in the world to this day, existed.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Haddish has started training for the role and is working under Griffith Joyner's widow, Al Joyner, who is also producing and consulting on the project.
This is going to be an amazing project for Haddish and we can't wait to see it!
