Two Badly Decomposed Bodies Found in the Trailer of an 18-Wheeler in Texas. 9-1-1 Caller was Tipped Off by the Areas Homeless.
What started off as a rumor ended up being a horrible reality for the homeless population of Houston, Texas. Early this morning a call came in to Houston's 911 dispatch from a concerned citizen. The person told the operator that they'd been at an area store around midnight when they heard some people who appeared to be homeless speaking of dead bodies.
The caller said that the people were discussing two people, also experiencing homelessness, who had died inside of a trailer in a lot for 18-wheelers. The conversation was so clear and detailed that the caller felt compelled to report the alleged deaths to the authorities even without proof.
According to KHOU, crews with HPD and the Houston Fire Department responded to the area and started searching a parking lot with a lot of 18-wheelers filled with Purple Heart donations, but couldn't find anything initially.
At some point, crews noticed a hole had been cut into the roof of one of the trucks. HFD brought a ladder and the bodies were discovered.
"Appears to be two bodies for sure. I mean, they've been there a very long time so they're very decomposed, almost look like a mummy," Lt. Willkens said.
Willkens said it appeared the two had been living in the truck.
The authorities have not disclosed the presumed gender of the individuals and their cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
Anyone with any information on the two individuals, or may suspect that they know them, is encouraged to contact Houston police.
