Two Toddlers and an Infant Found in an Apartment with Their Mother's Dead Body.
The sounds of crying children alerted neighbors to a gruesome scene inside a Phoenix apartment. Officers were called to the apartment complex on 19th Avenue and Camelback around 7:30pm yesterday because neighbors say two children were outside crying. When they arrived they found two children, ages 2 and 3-years-old, crying on their porch.
"Trying to communicate with these children…we’re trying to talk to them and have them go to the front door of the apartment, and we just weren’t able to get them to do that," said Sergeant Ann Justus with the Phoenix Police Department.
Once inside the apartment, officers found the victim, 30-year-old Shavone Robinson, with obvious signs of trauma. A 4-week-old infant was also found inside the apartment. Officials say there were no signs of forced entry.
Investigators say Robinson is the mother of the children.
The children were taken to an area hospital where they were examined for any trauma but, thankfully, found to be in perfect physical health.
Robinson's family, and her neighbors, are all stunned by her death. Her sister, Kika Robinson, describes her younger sister as a "great mother" who always took pride in caring for her children. "She takes care of her kids, that’s what she posts on social media," said sister Kika Robinson. "Anyone that knows Shavone knows her kids."
Robinson's 5-year-old child, who wasn't home at the time, was due to graduate kindergarten this week.
"She’s a good person, a mother always first, daughter, sister," said the victim's sister. "If anyone has any information we want them to come forward."
At this time, the Phoenix Police Department doesn't have any suspects but they are encouraging anyone with any information to please contact them anonymously.
A GoFundMe has been arranged to provide for Robinson's children.
