Days after being ambushed by a Mexican cartel, two of the four missing Americans have been found dead Tamaulipas Gov. Américo Villarreal Anaya said in a phone call with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador that was played at a news conference earlier today.

All four victims were found at a medical facility in Matamoros, Mexico. Reports say that two of the victims are dead and the other two are severely injured.

The friends had traveled to Mexico so that one of them, a 33-year-old mom of six, Latavia “Tay” Washington McGee, could get a medical procedure. McGee drove herself, and her three friends Shaeed Woodard, Zindell Brown and Eric Williams, from North Carolina to Mexico, like she'd done herself in the past, but never arrived at her appointment. McGee's mother was notified of the abduction on Sunday.

Tamaulipas Attorney General Irving Barrios confirmed the discovery via Twitter saying “Derived from the joint search actions, the four American citizens deprived of their liberty last Friday were found," he went on to say Unfortunately, two dead. Investigation and intelligence work continue to capture those responsible. Details will be given later.”

At this time reports are not being made on which of the four are dead and which are alive.
