What Do You Get When You Mix "The Fugitive" with an Action Packed Murder Mystery and Science? BET+ to Premiere "The Accused"!

It's been a minute since we've seen a character remotely close to the heroine in BET+'s "The Accused"! Actually, we've probably NEVER seen a character like this.

Written by Pat White and Clarence Williams and directed by Tony Glazer, "The Accused" is a fast paced action/thriller that will have you questioning your closest friends. The main character, Dani West, played by Paige Audrey-Marie Hurd (Girl in the Garage: The Laura Cowan Story), finds herself to be the prime suspect when she finds her fiance dead in their home!

When a brilliant plant geneticist is framed for her fiance's murder, she must go on the run, relying on her intelligence and physical prowess to expose the truth and clear her name before time runs out.

Nothing in this story is as it seems. The place that most think is unsafe, is actually a haven and those that we should be able to trust are out to end everything!

I got a chance to sit down and talk with the writers, director and cast of the film and I must say, it. was a wonderful conversation.

Although the film had a complete ending, I needed to know about the beginning and just how this crazy story began! Oddly enough, the writer, Pat White, said that her original thought for the story was "a traumatized character". From that thought she fleshed out the story, with the help of Clarence Williams, to make Dani West come to life. The medical testing wasn't her original plan but, it worked itself well into the finished product. It was a collective idea to make Dani a Black scientist because Black women aren't often portrayed as these types of characters, especially ones who have survival skills like this one!

"The Accused" also stars Lawrence Saint-Victor, Crystal Lee Brown, Summer Crockett Moore, Nicole G. Leier and Manny Perez. Special appearances by Robert Riley and Rockmond Dunbar.
